Summary

CarboForest generates a long term plan (period for the plan is determined by the user, but normally two rotations are recommended) for the management (harvesting and silviculture) of a forest asset in a way that economic returns or the volume production over time are maximised, given eventual constraints in terms of annual harvesting levels.

The solution, i.e. a management schedule for each compartment of the forest, is possible to follow over time and it is easy to analyse the consequences of a solution in terms of development over time of standing volumes and its average age, average harvesting ages, the wood costs and income. It is also quick to obtain a new solution for comparison of consequences of a changed forest management policy.

CarboForest can also be used to value a forest asset or as a tool for an economic due diligence.
